The summer is not over and the MLS is continuing to break records as the New England Revolution is set to deal Serbian goalkeeper- Djordje Petrovic to Stamford Bridge according to multiple reports.
It is believed that this agreement is valued at $17.5 million upfront with additional add-ons of $2.2 million. The deal not only signals Chelsea’s interest in the player, but also sets a new MLS record for goalkeeper transfers.
Transfers like this one are reshaping the perceptions of the MLS. This year alone we witnessed outbound sales of young players like Jhon Duran (22M) , Taty Castellanos (16.7M), and Ismael Kone (8M) earn their clubs massive fees. Numbers that just a few years ago would seem unattainable.
With the influx of young talents like youth Italian international, Lorenzo Dellavalle and substantial sales, the league has transformed from a career endpoint to a launchpad. One day young players, from around the world look to play in and the biggest clubs in the world keep their eye on for talent.
