According to multiple sources, the MLS has put Bruce Arena on administrative leave “pending review into allegations he made insensitive and inappropriate remarks.” Arena allegedly expressed support for Taxi Fountas and made exclusionary comments.
As one of the most accomplished coaches in MLS history, Arena’s career boasts numerous
successes, including leading D.C. United to two MLS Cups and guiding the U.S. men’s national team to the 2002 and 2006 World Cup quarterfinals. He holds the record for the most wins as a U.S. men’s national team coach. With players informed of his absence, the league awaits the outcome of the review. There has been no further comment by those involved.
