The 2025 Generation adidas Cup is making history — and this time, the girls are pulling up. For the first time ever, the tournament will feature a Girls Division, putting elite U.S. youth talent on a global stage and matching them up against some of the biggest clubs in the women’s game.
Two Girls Academy All-Star teams — East and West — will represent the domestic side, going toe-to-toe with international giants FC Bayern Munich and Manchester City in a U16 round-robin tournament. It all goes down April 16–20 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, with a championship match set for Sunday, April 20.
This moment is more than just a tournament expansion. It’s a signal. A sign that the gap between girls’ and boys’ development opportunities is starting to close — and that the next generation of American stars will be forged in the same competitive fires.
“Our players deserve this kind of platform,” said Girls Academy Commissioner Patricia Hughes. “This is what the pathway should look like.”
For GA players, it’s a chance to test themselves against the best — and for the rest of us, it’s a chance to watch the future unfold in real time. The East and West rosters will be announced soon.
US girls soccer has carried the respect of US soccer for quite some time. It’s great to see that they are being repaid for their years of service.
