While the easy answer is Inter Miami, there is a good case to be made that teams like Real Salt Lake, LAFC and Columbus Crew made just as big of waves this summer in terms of effectiveness.
The MLS has not always been known as a league for young international talent, but as we all can see, things are changing. LAFC not only signed 16-year-old Bajung Darboe to a home-grown contract, but brought in an impressive signing of Italian youth international Lorenzo Dellavalle. The 19-year-old played every minute in Italy’s U19 Euro winning season.
Another team that brought in shining young stars is Real Salt Lake who was able to sign the highly sought after 16-year-old Sean Petrie. However, their summer was also highlighted by the signings of Columbian internationals Nelson Palacio and Cristian Arango.
Columbus Crew also went the veteran route by signing DP Diego Rossi and Rudy Camacho. Both signings not only filled holes, but upgraded the roster.
The team that may have made the best business this summer is Cincinnati. The sale of Brenner to Serie A for 10 million dollars combined with the addition of goal scorer Aaron Boupendza setup the league leaders to continue on their path to their goal of an MLS cup.
